Panasonic has announced its full 2021 OLED TV lineup, adding the JZ1500, JZ1000 & JZ980 to the flagship JZ2000 first unveiled at CES in January. All three OLED ranges will be available in 65-, 55- and a new 48-inch screen sizes.
The Panasonic JZ1500 will get a similar Master HDR Professional OLED panel to that implemented on the JZ2000, allowing the TV to achieve higher peak brightness than conventional OLEDs.
Panasonic also demonstrated the very low input lag on its OLED TVs, using an oscilloscope which returned a latency figure of 2.5ms in VRR mode.
Panasonic's new OLED TVs will be available from June 2021. Prices are to be confirmed.
Update 26 March 2021: Panasonic has reached out to clarify the following items (lost in translation because of virtual event):
- 2.5ms VRR lag is not total latency. It’s delta between 60Hz vs 120Hz VRR on the digital board (excluding Panel part).
- The input lag demo was done by LED not by OLED.
- Panasonic will release a firmware update later in 2021 to restore full 3840x2160 resolution at 120Hz without VRR. The company will make a future announcement regarding the status of 3840x2160 at 120Hz with VRR.
