Sony has launched a new 16-inch BVM-HX1710 4K professional master monitor at IBC 2024 in Amsterdam, which must be the smallest dual-layer LCD monitor in the world.

Dual-layer LCD monitors use two layers of LCD panels to achieve self-emissive properties, delivering supremely deep blacks and very high brightness, but high costs and energy consumption mean that they won't be coming to the consumer realm anytime soon.
