We analyse the near-black "flashing" problem on LG's 2018 OLED TVs using our self-authored test pattern and also real-world content suggested by subscribers (thanks!).
It mainly affects dark colours in a state of transition, so we have decided to call this a "near-black chrominance overshoot" issue.
Panel variance, source material, ambient lighting and viewing distance will determine how visible the problem is on individual LG 2018 OLEDs including the B8, C8 and E8.
Thanks also to Igor Malinin for the quantisation test pattern at 02:00.
