Sony XH90, A8 & More Hit by Frustrating Pop-Up Notifications After Firmware Update

Following a firmware update, certain Sony TV models in Europe are now displaying an inconvenient pop-up notification every time a picture mode/ setting that can affect the light output on screen is adjusted.

Sony TV models that are affected include the Sony XH90/ XH92, as well as Sony TVs with X1 Ultimate chipsets (Sony AF9, AG9, A8, XH95, etc.).

The pop-up warning message reads: "This may increase power consumption more than the normal configuration.", requiring users to either click "OK" or "Cancel".

We reached out to Sony UK for comment, and this is their response: "This was implemented based on the EU regulation for power consumption. We will take customer feedback seriously, and will consider for future user interface."
