TCL has revealed that its 2021 6-Series Roku TV with Mini LED backlight technology will only be available in 8K resolution. Is this the beginning of the end for 4K?

The company also unveiled a trio of 85-inch TVs known as the TCL XL Collection. There's the entry-level 4-Series priced at only $1599, then the 7-Series (model number 85R745) with 4K resolution, full-array local dimming, QLED colours, Dolby Vision & Atmos; and an unnamed top-end 85-inch 8K TV with OD Zero MiniLED backlight technology.
