Samsung held several private demo sessions at CES 2018, & its upcoming flagship QLED TV fared really well against a 2017 OLED, last year's Q9F & a Sony ZD9 in a four-way shootout.
Please bear in mind that this is a manufacturer's demo where Samsung pre-selected the content, and we have no control and knowledge of the picture settings used on any of the sets.
Nevertheless, by implementing full-array local dimming (FALD) and a number of other measures, the new Samsung flagship QLED will certainly be more competitive than 2017's Q9F which was edge-lit.
