At the Hot Chips 2020 symposium, Microsoft has revealed that the upcoming Xbox Series X next-gen console will be using 10Gbps FRL (Fixed Rate Link) with DSC (Display Stream Compression), pointing to an HDMI 2.1 chipset with 40Gbps bandwidth, which means that LG CX/ GX and Samsung Q80T/ Q90T owners won't be missing out.
Due to the prevalence of HDMI 2.1 TVs with 40Gbps bandwidth, we hope the new NVIDIA Ampere graphics cards scheduled to be announced on the 1st of September will support 10-bit output for 4K@120Hz 10-bit 4:4:4 to fit within the 40Gbps bandwidth.
